Union Minister for Labour U Myint Kyaing attended the Labour Ministers’ Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement members during the 110th International Labour Conference held on May 30 via video conference.

At the meeting, the chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Member States Minister for Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan delivered opening remarks.

While addressing the meeting, Union Minister U Myint Kyaing said the State Administration Council has set the five-point roadmap and nine objectives in building a genuine, disciplined, multiparty democratic system, focusing on the economic development of the country through the tripartite cooperation among the government, employers, and employees.

In addition to creating job opportunities for local workers, we are also working with the countries concerned to ensure the safe migration of Myanmar migrant workers abroad and their full access to rights and protections under the laws of their respective countries.

As a social protection programme, the Maternal and Child Cash Transfer Programme (MCCT) provides financial support to pregnant women and their children under the age of two and social pension programmes for the elderly aged 90 and over.

The coverage age has been reduced to 85 years. Myanmar will work for a genuine, disciplined, multiparty democracy, a union based on democracy and federalism, support local businesses, create jobs that will produce more of the country’s products, prioritize the interests of workers, and protect employers under the law.
