On October 23, a gunman carried out a drive-by shooting targeting people in the southwestern Paris suburbs.

The attack resulted in one fatality and five injured, including a 12-year-old girl who was critically wounded. Police apprehended the suspect, identified as a 39-year-old man. He was found with a submachine gun and tear-gas grenades, and his apartment was booby-trapped with gas canisters attached to a timer.

President Emmanuel Macron visited Trappes later that day. He condemned the assault as a "racist terrorist attack", emphasizing that France must stand united against hatred, anti-Semitism, racism, and violence based on religion or skin color.
