Workshop on Future Initiatives: Sustainable development of the rice sector

A ceremony honoring growers, producers and exporters of Myanmar Paw San rice, which received the World’s Best Rice Award for 2026, and the opening ceremony of a workshop on future initiatives for the sustainable development of the rice sector were held at the Convocation Hall of Yezin Agricultural University in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory on Thursday.

President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and made a speech, urging the government, private sector, experts and farmers to work together to develop Myanmar Paw San rice into a premium national product, following its recognition as the world's best rice for 2026.

The President also emphasized the need to turn the vision of “A New Era for Myanmar Paw San” into tangible achievements through unity and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders. The event highlighted the importance of building on the international recognition of Myanmar Paw San rice and further developing it into a high-quality product capable of competing in international markets.
