Due to strenuous efforts and continuous counter terrorism operations against AA and CDF insurgent groups along Laung Shey-Hlaing Doke-Kyin Dwe route, Tatmadaw regained control of Hlaing Doke Village on Wednesday.
Since December 2023, the AA and CDF armed groups have launched large-scale attacks and temporarily seized control of Kyin Dwe Town, located on the road connecting Rakhine and Chin States, forcing local residents, including children and the elderly, to flee their homes. During their occupation, the terrorists used religious buildings, hospitals, schools, and government offices as shields, looted residential areas, destroyed infrastructure, planted landmines, and abducted, tortured and killed civilians.
These actions disrupted transportation and trade, caused sharp increases in commodity prices, severely affected local livelihoods, and hindered regional socio-economic development. To restore regional stability and enable residents to resume safe livelihoods, Tatmadaw columns launched coordinated security operations from Laung Shey to regain control of the Laung Shey–Hlaing Doke–Kyin Dwe route.
From 24 September to October 20, they progressively recaptured Point 610, Yin Kae Village, Point 934, Swal Lwal Kyin Village, Point 1059, Maswatwe Village, Point 1276, and Point 1732. On October 21, Hlaing Doke Village was recaptured. During security operations along the route, Tatmadaw columns engaged in 26 clashes, along with the seizure of 11 bodies, 12 assorted firearms, ammunition, and related equipment.
Security operations are continued to reopen the strategically important Laung Shey–Hlaing Doke–Kyin Dwe route. In collaboration with relevant departments and local residents, damaged infrastructure, roads, and bridges will be restored and renovated.
