French FM Barrot meets Lebanese PM Salam in Beirut

Visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel met with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in Beirut on Saturday. The core topics and goals of their discussions centered around critical post-conflict and institutional issues, with the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) slated to expire at the end of the year.

The talks heavily focused on preventing a dangerous security vacuum in southern Lebanon. They discussed alternative international arrangements or multinational frameworks to support the Lebanese Armed Forces so they can secure the border region.
