The verified Myanmar nationals who faced hardships in Malaysia for various reasons have returned to Myanmar since early October.

The Myanmar government coordinated with Malaysian authorities to facilitate the returnees’ journey to Yangon. Among them, 142 residents of Tanintharyi Region were transported from Yangon to Myeik and onward to their respective hometowns. On Friday, 15 residents of Kawthaung Township were welcomed by district and township administrative committee members, departmental officials and social organizations at Kawthaung Myo Ma Jetty.

The authorities conducted health screenings, verified Unique Identification (UID) and e-ID records, and collected personal information. The 15 returnees are being handed over to their parents and guardians for their return to the respective homes.
