Millions of young pearl mullet spotted off Lake Van coast

Millions of young pearl mullet have been spotted in the coastal waters of Lake Van in eastern Türkiye, creating a striking underwater spectacle. The fish, which live in the lake and migrate to freshwater streams to spawn each year, have returned to the lake after hatching and developing in freshwater. Large schools of young pearl mullet were filmed off the coast of Tatvan, in Bitlis province, by amateur diver and nature photographer.
