







The Myanmar National Committee on Women held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Chairperson of the Committee Union Minister for Women’s Affairs Dr. Thet Thet Zin attended the meeting and made a speech, saying that the Committee is working on policies, plans and programmes, legal reforms and international and regional cooperation to promote and protect women’s rights and development.
She said women’s committees are being established at the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, region and state, district and township levels to implement women’s development programmes more effectively across the country. She also said the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (NSPAW) 2023–2032 is being implemented through the leading committee headed by the Vice President and 12 working committees led by director-generals from relevant departments.
The ministry, in cooperation with women’s organizations, is also implementing programmes in 45 villages in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region and Shan State to improve access to education, healthcare, sanitation, livelihoods and employment opportunities, particularly for rural women and young women. The programmes will be expanded to more villages. The meeting discussed the achievements, challenges, strengths, ongoing activities and future plans under the NSPAW.
