Combating Drug Smuggling : Drug seizures in Monywa and Thazi

Heroin worth more than 2 billion kyats was seized in Monywa of Sagaing Region, according to the Myanmar Police Force. On September 27, a joint police team searched a house in Monywa and arrested four men. They were found with 66 kilograms of heroin, valued at about 2.31 billion kyats.

In a separate case on September 29, police stopped a motorcycle near Kyawe Tat Sone  Village in Thazi Township and arrested two women. They were found carrying 24,000 stimulant tablets, valued at about 48 million kyats. Legal action has been taken against the suspects under Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Law.
