Religious Affairs : Opening of newly rebuilt stone inscription shed

The opening ceremony for the newly rebuilt stone inscription shed, which was damaged by the Mandalay earthquake on March 28, 2025, within the compound of the Mahamuni Buddha Image in Mandalay, was held on September 24.

During the ceremony, Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin delivered the opening address, stating that Nepal is the birthplace of the Lord Buddha and that official diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Nepal began on March 19, 1960.

He noted that diplomatic ties between the two countries have spanned over 60 years and that the Nepalese government donated USD 300,000 for the renovation of the stone inscription shed damaged by the major Mandalay earthquake. He further expressed that building upon the existing friendly relations, religious cooperation between Myanmar and Nepal will continue to be promoted in the future.

Following this,  Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire stated that the renovation of the stone inscription shed carries a significance that extends far beyond physical reconstruction.Afterward, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region U Myo Aung delivered a speech of gratitude and appreciation.
