








The ground-breaking ceremony for the Lewe Pre-school Construction Project, undertaken as part of the India-Myanmar Cooperation Program, was held on August 19, attended by Dr. Thant Zaw Lwin, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India to Myanmar, and other officials.
At the ceremony, the Deputy Minister stated that the early childhood period, from birth to age 8, is the period of most rapid physical, psychological, social, and cognitive development. He added that it is a critical stage for human development as it represents the period with the highest capacity for lifelong learning.
To ensure children achieve holistic development including social skills, emotional well-being, nutrition, and health, he highlighted the need for collective efforts among families, communities, and relevant departments and organizations.
Next, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar explained the project assistance programs and expressed commitment to working together for the long-term development of children. Afterward, the Deputy Minister, the Indian Ambassador, and attendees conducted the ground-breaking ceremony and sprinkled scented water on the site where the Lewe Pre-school will be built.
The Lewe Pre-school Construction Project will involve constructing two two-story steel-structure buildings during the 2026–2027 fiscal year, funded by a grant of 1,091.475 million MMK from the Government of India.
