At the invitation of President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, a Myanmar high-level delegation led by President U Min Aung Hlaing departed from Nay Pyi Taw Airport by special flight in the morning of August 17 to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation.

Vice Presidents U Nyo Saw and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi, Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, and officials from the Embassy and Defence Attaché Office of the Russian Federation in Myanmar saw off the Myanmar high-level delegation led by President at the airport.

Accompanying the State President on the visit were Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Dr. Thet Khaing Win, U Ko Ko Lwin and Dr. Charlie Than; Chief Executive Officer of the Myanmar Space Agency Dr. Soe Myint Maung; Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo; senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services; deputy ministers; and other officials.

Subsequently, the Myanmar high-level delegation led by the President arrived at Vnukovo  International Airport in Moscow at 6 p.m. local time.

They were welcomed and seen off by Russian Minister of Economic Development Mr. Maxim Gennadievich Reshetnikov, a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and officials, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Myo Moe Aung, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov, Myanmar Defence Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brigadier General Kyaw Soe Oo, and members of the Embassy and Defence Attaché Office.

At the airport, the Guard of Honour of the Russian Federation accorded a state ceremonial welcome to President U Min Aung Hlaing in accordance with the traditional protocol for welcoming heads of state undertaking a state-level visit of friendship.

The President then received the salute from the Guard of Honour at the saluting dais. During the ceremony, the Guard of Honour played the national anthems of the two countries. The President U Min Aung Hlaing subsequently received the ceremonial march-past salute by the Guard of Honour of the Russian Federation.

During the visit, the President will hold talks with the President of Russia, as well as meet with the Prime Minister of Russia and the Speaker of the State Duma. He will also meet with relevant Russian government officials.

Discussions will focus on further strengthening the existing friendly and cordial relations between Myanmar and Russia and promoting strategic cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries across various sectors, including economic, security and social affairs. During the visit, the President will attend the Myanmar-Russia Economic Forum, it’s reported.
