Coordination Meeting : Needs for resupplying damaged to monsoon crops discussed

A coordination meeting to address the needs for resupplying and recovery regarding the damage to monsoon crop acreages caused by heavy rainfall in Sagaing Region was held on the morning of August 17 at the meeting hall of the region government office. The meeting was attended by the Region Chief Minister U Ko Lay, who delivered the opening speech.

 

First, Region Chief Minister U Ko Lay stated that heavy rainfall in the region had damaged paddy, pigeon pea, millet, oilseed crops, groundnuts, sesame, sunflowers, various pulses, and an industrial raw crop of cotton plantations in villages across districts and townships. He emphasized the need for timely replanting of submerged monsoon crops, restoration and rejuvenation of agricultural lands, and systematic provision of seeds, agricultural machinery fuel, and input fertilizers required by local farmers. He urged the Department of Agriculture and relevant departments to collaborate and provide necessary support, and affirmed that the region government would work together to ensure the recovery and success of the affected monsoon crop acreages.

 

Following this, officials from regional-level departments, chairmen of District Administration and Management Committees, and members of the region government presented explanations regarding the activities their respective departments would undertake to address the needs for replenishment and recovery related to crop damage caused by heavy rainfall in the region.

 

Subsequently, the Chief Minister discussed and coordinated necessary actions with responsible officials based on the presentations and suggestions made by attendees, and delivered the closing remarks, it was reported.
