Mountain Bike Cycling Race : MDY Region CM started the race by firing starting pistol

With the objectives of further promoting cycling activities, producing more outstanding cyclists capable of bringing honour to the country, contributing to the physical fitness and health of the entire population, raising public awareness and interest in the conservation of wildlife, flora and fauna in accordance with the natural environment and climatic conditions of the two parks, and contributing to the development of local tourism and the socio-economic development of the region, a Mountain Bike (MTB) Novice Cycling Race from Yadanabon Zoological Garden in Mandalay to National Kandawgyi Gardens in Pyin Oo Lwin was jointly organized by the Mandalay Region Government, the Mandalay Region Forest Department and the Mandalay Region Sports and Physical Education Department.

The event was held at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday in front of Yadanabon Zoological Garden in Aungmyaythazan  Township. MTB novice cyclists participated in the race, which was officially started by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, who fired the starting pistol.

The race covered a distance of approximately 43 miles, from Yadanabon Zoological Garden to National Kandawgyi Gardens in Pyin Oo Lwin, with participants cycling along the designated Mandalay–Pyin Oo Lwin route. A total of 491 male and female cyclists aged 18 and above, including 12 participants aged 60 and above, took part in the competition.

The race proceeded according to the schedule, and prizes were duly presented to the winners.

In addition, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, accompanied by members of the Region Government and responsible officials, toured and encouraged the collective cleaning activities being carried out by departmental personnel at the 500-bed Orthopaedic Specialist Hospital in Chanmyathazi  Township this morning. He coordinated and provided necessary assistance for the work and inspected the collective efforts to clear bushes and weeds, remove garbage, and dredge silt from drainage channels to improve water flow and drainage, it’s reported.
