Relief Supplies : Assistance for flood victims in Mandalay

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, accompanied by Mandalay regional government ministers, visited the temporary relief camps for flood-affected people in Wae Gyi Sin Ywa  Village, Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region on Thursday.

The Union Minister met with the flood-affected people and said that climate change and environmental degradation occour natural disasters. The Union Minister stressed the importance of having precaution measures in order to reduce the impacts caused by the annual flood occurence.

Due to the increased water volume than the previous years, the Union Minister stressed to take caution to avoid the risk of other health problems, including diarrhea. During the visit, the Union Minister provided basic foodstuff for 295 flood affected households which worth 7.8 million kyat.
