Women Empowerment: Myanmar - Belarus cooperation on women’s affairs

Union Minister for Women’s Affairs Dr. Thet Thet Zin met with a delegation led by Ms. Olga Chemodanova, Chairperson of Belarus’ Belaya Rus Party, at the Ministry on Thursday.

The Union Minister said Myanmar values its friendly relations and cooperation with Belarus and is working to promote women’s development, empowerment and protection from violence.

She noted that women make up 53 percent of Myanmar’s population and that rural women and girls are a priority. Ms. Chemodanova said Belarus has designated 2026 as the Year of Women and stressed the importance of family protection and health awareness for women. The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in women’s affairs.
