Peace Talks: NSPNC and NDAA Hold Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw

A meeting between the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) was held on August 10 in Nay Pyi Taw. At the meeting, NSPNC Chairman Lieutenant General Yar Pyae stated that the first meeting was able to cover education, health, transport, and regional development matters.

He added that in the current session, negotiations would focus on bringing the Mongla Region to a higher standard in accordance with existing laws. He assured that the committee would coordinate to fulfill mutual requests regarding education, health, and transport, noting that certain political requirements must be carried out step-by-step and require coordination in accordance with the standard operating procedures of relevant departments. Subsequently, NDAA Chairman U Htein Lin stated that frequent dialogue with the Government and closer relations would enhance mutual trust.

He expressed a desire for guidance from state leaders regarding the peace process and regional development, stating that such guidelines would be shared with local residents and that NDAA would prioritize cooperation for national development and border stability. And, the attendees mutually discussed regional development, the repair of the Kengtung–Mongla Highway, the full reopening of the Mong Yu–Keng Yang Bridge for regular traffic, the continuous elevation of education and health services, and government policy support for agricultural products. Furthermore, NSPNC Secretary Lieutenant General Min Naung presented and discussed several key points: that positive prospects for mutual trust-building and political dialogue significantly contribute to the state's peace process; the NSPNC will report the NDAA's submissions regarding education, health, regional development needs, and strengthening direct bilateral relations to state leaders to coordinate with relevant ministries according to directives and policies; the approach of finding solutions through dialogue will be advanced step-by-step; primary consideration will be given to the NDAA's leadership transition, the formation of new leadership, and points of alignment with the "Peace, Unity, and Development" policy and the state peace process; and discussions will continue regarding necessary political matters.

Thereafter, both sides agreed upon and signed the recorded minutes of their discussions to finalize the record. Following that, NDAA Chairman U Htein Lin donated funds to assist flood-affected residents in Laymyethna Township of Ayeyawaddy Region.
