Education Sector: President Attends School Health Week Ceremony

President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the central-level commemorative ceremony for the 2026–2027 Academic Year School Health Week Campaign at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-1 in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday morning.

The President opened the commemorative ceremony by pressing a push button. In his speech, the President stated that the government is accelerating healthcare initiatives. He emphasized the need to build a healthy community by promoting healthy habits among students, which would then spread to their families and the general public.

He highlighted the necessity of participation and support from the entire public, including parents, in school health programs. He stressed the importance of ensuring students receive adequate nutrition to remain healthy and fit, promoting all-round development, and organizing sports competitions.

Furthermore, he noted the need to maintain systematic health checkup records for individual students to ensure greater effectiveness. Consequently, responsible officials from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs must collaborate effectively to achieve success in these efforts. Regarding mental health, he encouraged parents and teachers to work together to ensure that students get adequate sleep and to support children experiencing stress.

Afterward, the President presented awards to the heads of schools that won first prize in the School Health Performance programme. Thereafter, Vice Presidents U Nyo Saw and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye presented awards Following this, the President and attendees watched a video clip showcasing school health promotion activities and enjoyed a performance of the school health promotion song presented by students.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the President and attendees toured the photo exhibition documenting the 2026–2027 Academic Year School Health Week Campaign (Central Level). As responsible officials provided briefings on their respective sectors, the President asked clarifying questions and issued necessary guidelines.

Subsequently, the President and his delegation attended the School Health Week Campaign ceremony held at No. (6) Basic Education High School in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. He observed each of the school health activities, offered encouragement, and provided necessary instructions following the presentations by responsible officials.
