Relief Measures : President attends meeting to review rehabilitation efforts

President U Min Aung Hlaing attended a meeting in Pathein of Ayeyawady Region, on Saturday to review relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts following flooding caused by damage to the Ngawun River embankment in Laymyethna Township.

Officials reported on rescue and relief operations, repairing the embankment and preparing to restore damaged farmland and transport infrastructure. The President instructed to provide sufficient clean drinking water and healthcare for flood victims and to prepare machinery, fuel and seeds to resume cultivation as soon as floodwaters recede.

He also called for urgent temporary repairs to the damaged embankment and systematic measures to drain floodwaters as much as possible. He instructed to inspect and monitor embankments during the rainy season to prevent further damage.

He also emphasized protecting the Ayeyawady Delta from saltwater intrusion and making better use of the region’s land and water resources for agriculture and economic development. After the meeting, the President and officials conducted an aerial inspection of flood-affected areas in Kangyidaunt, Ngapudaw and Thabaung townships and gave instructions to local officials.
