The US White House on Thursday unveiled a 15% tariff and strict minimum price floors on imported polysilicon products and derivatives. Signed by President Donald Trump under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, the policy takes effect on December 4, 2026, to curb solar panels and semiconductor chips. It designed to safeguard primary U.S. production sites like Hemlock Semiconductor in Michigan and Wacker Chemie's facility in Tennessee.
