Field Inspection Tour: Kachin State CM made field inspection tour in Tanai

For the purpose of ensuring food security, expanding the cultivation of oilseed crops and multi-cropping systems, and promoting regional development, in Hukaung Valley region, Tanai District, Kachin State, the State Chief Minister U Khet Htin Nan, who is currently in Tanai Township, met with departmental officials, traditional ethnic cultural groups, local elders, associations, and entrepreneurs at the Hukaung Hall on August 4.

During the meeting, the State Chief Minister stated that the Hukaung (Tanai) region has favorable geographical and climatic conditions and is a productive agricultural area. Therefore, starting from the 2023-2024 fiscal year, continuous efforts have been made to ensure food security. In previous years and this year, seeds, mustard oilseeds, and fertilizers have been provided free of charge, while fuel has been sold at affordable prices. In addition to agriculture, loans will also be provided to support the expansion of livestock farming. He urged everyone to work together collectively to meet the food security targets for the people of the Tanai region within the next three years, starting from 2026.

Subsequently, the Chairmen of District an Township Administrative Bodies, local elders, and ward/village tract administrators respectively presented their plans for agricultural activities to ensure food security in Tanai District, the operations currently being carried out with country’s economic promotion loans, and the needs for regional development. In response, the Chief Minister coordinated with state ministers and state-level departmental officials to address these matters.

Following this, the Chief Minister and state ministers provided financial support to literature and cultural associations and other organizations within Tanai Township, as well as to four schools that are conducting camp-style instruction for students to improve Grade-12 pass rates.

Afterward, the Chief Minister visited the Tanai Township Electric Power Distribution Office, the Township Electricity Engineer's Office, the Tanai People’s Hospital, the Township Fire Station, and the Tanai No. 10 Tatmadaw Hospital (25-bed), where he provided financial support, it is reported.
