Culture & Arts : UM Addresses Research Paper Reading Session

Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint attended the research paper reading session on Myanmar culture and arts on August 3.

At the ceremony, the Union Minister stated that a nation's national identity, cultural heritage, and national prestige are built upon its history, religion, literature, art, traditions, and way of life. He emphasized that documenting, researching, preserving, and handing down this heritage to future generations are a vital duty for the development of the country's cultural sector.

He added that with the advancement of digital technology, it is essential to digitally record and preserve cultural heritage and research data, and that connections and exchanges with the international academic community should be further enhanced.

Next, the Director General of the Department of Fine Arts explained the purpose of organizing the paper reading session which proceeded with paper presenters reading and submitting various research papers, including one titled "Cultural Characteristics of the Myanmar Calendar."

Afterward, the paper presenters answered questions and addressed discussions raised by the attendees. And, the Union Minister provided a comprehensive overview of the paper reading session and delivered the closing remarks.
