Cypriot president meets with UN chief in Nicosia

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides held talks with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Nicosia as part of efforts to explore the possibility of restarting Cyprus peace negotiations.

Guterres arrived in Cyprus overnight and began separate meetings with the island’s rival leaders, nine years after the peace process stalled. The discussions focus on assessing prospects for renewed dialogue and efforts to address the long-running division of the island.
