Two Bosnian mountaineers die on Mount Elbrus in Russia; three others are missing

Mountain rescuers are searching for missing tourists on Mount Elbrus in Russia’s Caucasus region after two Bosnian mountaineers died during an expedition.

According to Russian authorities, a group of seven people was climbing the 5,642-metre mountain on Saturday when two members fell ill at an altitude of 5,100 metres and later died. One climber descended and reported the incident. Rescuers located the bodies of the two deceased and continued searching for the remaining members of the group. Two people have been rescued, while three others remain missing.Mount Elbrus, located in southern Russia’s Caucasus Mountains, is the highest peak in Europe.
