Brazil had rejected new US tariffs of 12.5% tied to forced labor claims, planning challenges at the World Trade Organization alongside domestic retaliation.

US Imposed a 12.5% tax on Brazilian goods, citing weak enforcement against forced labor, following an earlier separate 25% tariff on specific industrial and farm goods. Brazil condemned the actions as arbitrary protectionism, stating Washington is misusing a critical human rights issue.
