Under the guidance of the Government, the Tatmadaw has been working hand in hand with local residents to ensure regional stability, public safety, and the socio-economic development of the people. As part of these efforts, intensive measures are being taken to retake control of and reopen the Kalay–Tamu road, a vital route for Myanmar–India border trade.
To systematically regain control and reopen the Kalay–Tamu trade route, Tatmadaw columns were reorganized and deployed. Starting June 7, coordinated regional security operations were launched step-by-step. The Tatmadaw column advancing from Tamu Township secured Yanlinphai Village and its surrounding areas on June 10.
Meanwhile, the Tatmadaw column advancing from Kalay Township systematically recaptured and took control of towns and villages along the route, taking Khampat Town on June 20 and Kanan Village, located north of Khampat, on June 30. Furthermore, Tatmadaw columns accelerated their round-the-clock security operations to reopen the Kalay–Tamu transport link as quickly as possible.
As a result, the column advancing from Khampat Town captured Kammagyi (Chin) Village where terrorist insurgents were temporarily based on July 19, and Kammagyi (Bamar) Village on July 21. During these operations, weapons, ammunition, and related equipment were seized from the terrorist insurgents, who retreated in disarray with heavy casualties.
