Archaeologists unearthed a nearly 3,000-year-old human skeleton on the western outskirts of San Salvador on Tuesday. The remains are part of a burial discovered on July 2 at an archaeological site in Antiguo Cuscatlan, a district in the metropolitan area, and are estimated to date back to 850 BC, the Ministry of Culture reported.

The remains were found face down and will undergo radiocarbon dating to determine their age. DNA analysis will also be carried out to determine the person's sex.
