Review Meeting on Peace Process: NSPNC and NCA-s EAOs held review meeting

A review meeting on the peace process between the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and NCA signatory ethnic armed organizations (NCA-S EAOs) was held at the M Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

The meeting was attended by NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing and committee members, along with the leader of the NCA-S EAOs Negotiation Team and RCSS Secretary (1) Sao Sai Ngin , KNU/KNLA Peace Council Secretary (1) Saw Kyaw Nyunt, New Mon State Party (NMSP) Central Executive Committee member Naing Aung Ma Ngay , Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) Adjutant General Saw Sein Win, Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) General Secretary Kyar Ya Kok , Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) General Secretary Saw Mra Thandar and coordinators U Myo Win and Nan Yin Yin Soe.  

During the meeting, NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae reviewed the government's invitation for peace talks, the progress of the ongoing peace process, discussions with NCA signatory and non-signatory EAOs, bilateral talks with NCA signatories, priorities for regional stability and development and matters related to amendments to the 2008 Constitution.

Leader of the NCA-S EAOs Negotiation Team and RCSS Secretary (1) Sao Sai Ngin commended the NSPNC's peace efforts during the first 100 days of the new government. He expressed hope that both sides would hold open discussions to ensure broader participation in the peace process and achieve sustainable peace.

NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing then discussed advancing the peace process. This was followed by participants’ discussions on advancing an inclusive NCA-based peace process, strengthening confidence-building measures, expanding stakeholder participation, establishing communication channels, implementing development programs in conflict-affected areas and seeking international support for sustainable peace. The second day of the meeting is scheduled to continue on July 21.
