Community Policing System: Discussion on implementation of CPS held in Pathein

A discussion on the implementation of the Community Policing System by the Ayeyawady Region Police Force was held Monday morning at the Ayeyar Shwe Wah Hall in Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region.

At the ceremony, the Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister stated that the community policing system is indispensable for ensuring the effective enforcement of laws adopted in accordance with democratic principles, upholding the rule of law, and maintaining peace, stability, and security. He noted that community policing forms the foundation of police work carried out with the trust and confidence of the public, and that such trust must be built by treating all members of society fairly and impartially.

Afterward, the Chief of the Ayeyawady Region Police Force gave a PowerPoint presentation explaining the implementation of the community policing system.

The second session of the event featured an open panel discussion involving partner organizations participating in the implementation of community policing, government departments, ward and village administration bodies, associations and organizations, representatives of political parties, community elders, religious leaders, charitable and social welfare organizations, and students and youth.

Participants exchanged views on topics including respect for and compliance with the law in implementing community policing, transparency, safeguarding public safety and protecting citizens' rights, building trust among young people, students, and children, promoting road and traffic safety, raising awareness of the dangers of drug abuse, addressing youth violence and other socially unacceptable behaviors, representing the interests of the public and encouraging greater public participation in community policing, it’s reported.
