UN Chief urges inclusive global governance for AI

At the opening ceremony of the World AI Conference in Shanghai, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres delivered the message. He said technology that will shape the future of humanity must be shaped by all of humanity.

Guterres advocated that AI cannot be governed or monopolized by a handful of powerful nations or tech companies. He also warned that without a globally inclusive approach, rapid AI advancement threatens to widen the divide in income, opportunity, and security between developed and developing nations.
