Parliamentary Cooperation : Meeting with the Indian Ambassador

Pyithu Hlattaw Speaker U Khin Yi on Friday received a delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur at the Hluttaw meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, the Speaker explained the Ambassador on the Hluttaw’s  organizational structure and its ongoing activities. He stressed to elevate cooperation between the two parliaments by advancing initiatives, aimed at enhancing the capacity of members of parliament and promoting human resource development.

He expressed a desire to study India's federal system and to strengthen engagement and cooperation between their respective parliaments, looking forward to close collaboration across all aspects of parliamentary process including the legislative process.

He also remarked that the workshop on the constitution of India and the federal system, currently being held in Myanmar, is regarded as one component of the ongoing cooperation between the two parliaments.

The Ambassador of India said that India will continue to cooperate in strengthening the capacity of members of parliament and also provide support in promoting parliamentary exchanges and engagement between the two legislatures.
