Illegal Timbers Seized: Over 71 tons of timbers, vehicles and machines seized

The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various measures to detect and suppress the illegal logging and trade of forest products. These efforts include the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), which encourages public participation in monitoring and reporting illegal activities.

According to reports submitted by the Forest Departments in Nay Pyi Taw, the states, and the regions, during the period from July 6 to July 12, authorities seized 2.079 tons of illegal teak, 4.946 tons of hardwood, and 64.9630 tons of other timber, for a total of 71.988 tons of illegally harvested timber. In addition, two vehicles and machines were confiscated and 11 suspects were arrested, according to the Forest Department.
