Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum welcomed her Panamanian counterpart, Jose Raul Mulino, for a meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties.

Mulino thanked Sheinbaum for supporting the neutrality of the Panama Canal and calls on more Latin American countries to do the same. Sheinbaum also said that her meeting with Mulino, president of Panama since 2024, would allow Mexico and the Central American nation to “deepen and relaunch our cooperation in strategic areas” such as trade, investment, infrastructure, security, tourism, culture, education and innovation.
