Social Assistance: Assistance provided for the displaced families in Falam

A ceremony to provide assistance for displaced individual took place at the city hall in Falam Township of Chin State on 14th July. Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint attended the ceremony and made a speech, stating that the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Chin State to be able to operate departments and offices regularly.

Stressing the pivotal role of regional peace and stability, the Deputy Minister called for cooperation among departmental officials and locals in implementing regional development efforts. He added that the assistance were provided in order to fulfill the necessities to support the daily life of the displaced individuals who lost their possessions due to terrorist acts in the area.

During the ceremony, 72 bags of rice and 273 viss of edible oil were provided to the displaced individuals. The Deputy Minister and party later proceeded to the Maternal and Child Health Unit at the Department of Public Health in FalamTownship to oversee the vaccination process to pregnant women and under 5 years old children, and conducting knowledge sharing on maternity care for pregnant women.

To date, the Maternal and Child Health Division under the Department of Public Health has vaccinated over 15,000 pregnant women and more than 7,700) children under the age of 5 years in Tedim, Tonzang and Falam Townships. The government is providing necessary vaccines and medical supplies in timely manner for pregnant women and children under the age of 5 years.
