Israel's army releases footage of tunnel beneath Lebanon's Beaufort castle

The Israel Defense Forces released extensive footage and media tours detailing a massive underground Hezbollah tunnel network discovered along the Beaufort Ridge, located just south of the historic 900-year-old Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon.

The operation to capture the above-ground terrain around Beaufort Castle took place in late May 2026, with the subsequent unearthing, mapping, and dismantling of the subterranean network continuing through June and July 2026.

 The main tunnel shown to journalists stretches roughly 1.3 kilometers from a cliff face directly into the mountain rock. It is carved wide and high enough for a grown adult to walk through comfortably. Military officials estimate the complex took 10 to 15 years to build.
