Flood Warning: Chindwin & Thaungyin Rivers swell above danger levels

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a flood warning for Homalin in Sagaing Region and Myawady in Kayin State after river levels reached the danger mark on Sunday afternoon. As of 3:30 p.m., the Chindwin River at Homalin had reached its danger level and is forecast to rise by about 1 foot over the next 24 hours, remaining above the danger mark.

The Thaungyin River at Myawady has also reached its danger level and is expected to rise by about 2 feet during the next day while staying above the danger level. Residents living along riverbanks and in low-lying areas of Homalin and Myawady townships have been urged to take precautionary measures and relocate to safer areas if water levels continue to rise.
