Britain's King Charles and Queen Camilla brave a heatwave to feed a giant Galapagos tortoise called Polly and help with a healthcheck of Humboldt penguins, as they mark the 200th anniversary of the Zoological Society of London, of which Charles is patron.

The royals were visiting because the conservation charity behind the zoo, the Royal Zoological Society, was founded two centuries ago in 1826. England on Thursday saw temperatures soar above 34 Degree Celsius for the eight day this year, the highest number of days at this temperature in a calendar year since records began.
