OpenAI to launch new model after US freeze

OpenAI is publicly launching its new GPT-5.6 AI model series including the flagship Sol, on July 9, expanding globally. The broad release comes following U.S. government clearance after the Commerce Department briefly delayed the rollout over national security and export concerns regarding how these systems handle code weaknesses.

During the initial preview, access to GPT-5.6 was restricted to roughly 20 vetted partners after the White House issued an executive order requiring companies to voluntarily submit advanced models for government review 30 days prior.
