A seminar on Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, Myanmar’s Strategic Future, and the Policy Role of the Hluttaw aimed at capacity building for Hluttaw representatives was held Tuesday afternoon at the Thabin Hall of the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw.

The seminar was attended by Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) for Parliamentary Development U Maung Maung Ohn, along with Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw and Tatmadaw Hluttaw representatives.

First, the Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker and Chairman of JCC delivered the opening remarks, stating that today's seminar marks the very first initiative taken by the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) for Parliamentary Development.

He explained that the JCC's objective is to ensure the Hluttaw is a dignified and high-standard institution, and to further enrich the knowledge of the already well-informed Hluttaw representatives.

He urged the attendees to analyze the current situations of both Myanmar and the world, and to discuss how the Hluttaw should engage from its own role. He expressed his desire for an interactive exchange of views between the experts and the representatives, and encouraged the representatives to collectively strive for the benefit of both the Hluttaw and the state through such capacity-building seminars.

Subsequently, U Ko Ko (Ko Ko-RIT) gave a talk on the topic of "Geopolitical Shifts and Myanmar’s Strategic Positioning," highlighting key points for reflection, questions, and the role of the Hluttaw.

Following this, Dr. Zaw Oo gave a lecture on "Geoeconomics and Myanmar’s Development Opportunities," discussing Myanmar's geoeconomics alongside the trade and investment sectors in relation to international affairs.

The attending Hluttaw representatives then engaged in an interactive Q&A and discussion regarding points they wished to know.

Afterward, the Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker and Chairman of JCC reviewed and discussed the matters raised during the seminar. The Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker and Chairman of JCC then presented honorary cash awards to the expert speakers, it’s reported.
