Union Government Meeting: President attended and delivered the opening address

A meeting of the Union Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was held in the afternoon on July 7 at the Union Government Meeting Hall, Office of the President, in Nay Pyi Taw.

The President, U Min Aung Hlaing, attended and delivered an opening address. The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents U Nyo Saw and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Union Ministers, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air), and responsible officials, while Chief Ministers of regions and states participated via video conferencing.

First, the President delivered an opening address, stating that it is the government's duty to work for the development of the country and that it must make every effort to do so, and that peace and stability are also necessary to achieve this. He noted that the government has now been in office for a period of three months and emphasized that the committees, commissions, and relevant ministries established for various sectors need to regularly review and assess the progress of their work on a monthly basis.

He further stated that relevant ministries must systematically supervise and work toward increasing export volumes, explore ways to reduce imports and consumption of fuel and cooking oil, ensure that trade activities are conducted legally and that proper inspections and supervision are carried out, as illegal trade causes losses and damages to the State, if vehicles, particularly EV cars, can be fully assembled and manufactured domestically from start to finish instead of being imported, it would create employment opportunities and enable technology transfer and regarding education, it is necessary to teach not only academic subjects but also to nurture all students into well-rounded youth, etc.

Afterward, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of Regions and States presented discussions on their respective sectors. Subsequently, the President delivered a concluding address, stating that in working to promote the national economy, as the country is a developing nation with an agriculture-based economy, it is imperative to promote agro-based industries.

He also emphasized that MSME manufacturing, which is one of the most fundamental and feasible production sectors for the country, must be accelerated. He gave the directives and the meeting was concluded, it’s reported.
