Millions gather as Khamenei funeral procession begins in Tehran

Vast crowds gathered in Tehran for the funeral procession of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with authorities estimating that millions of people filled the streets in one of the country’s largest public gatherings in modern history.

State media said the turnout rivalled the scale of the funeral of his predecessor nearly four decades ago, as mourners from across Iran travelled to the capital to take part in the ceremony.
