Iran and Oman have formed a joint working group to coordinate the future management and administration of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. While Iran insists it should control the vital waterway, Oman has proposed a framework for commercial service fees similar to the Straits of Malacca, drawing objections from the United States.

On Tuesday, Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei reaffirmed that his country is ready to take responsibility for the management of the Strait of Hormuz and plans to work together with Oman.
