UN Security Council renews Golan Heights peacekeeping mission

The UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2824 on Thursday, renewing the mandate of the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights.

The resolution extends the peacekeeping mission for an additional six months, authorizing operations through December 31, 2026. The UNDOF has been tasked with maintaining the ceasefire between Israel and Syria, as well as supervising the demilitarized Area of Separation and restricted Area of Limitation.
