Trump claims US control over Hormuz Strait, Iran deterrence

U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States maintains strong control over the Strait of Hormuz and warned that deterrence measures remain in place to prevent escalation with Iran. Speaking during Executive Orders signing, Trump said U.S. naval capabilities had effectively enforced a blockade-style pressure strategy and could be rapidly reactivated if needed.

He also said Iran shows “respect” toward the United States under current arrangements and argued that this helps prevent conflict in the region. Trump further claimed that U.S. policy has strengthened barriers against Iran developing a nuclear weapon, contrasting his approach with past administrations.
