Myanmar Police Force reported that drugs and weapons worth more than 3 billion kyats were seized in Kalewa Township.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Anti-Narcotics Task Force stopped three Prado vehicles at Chindwin Bridge in Kalewa on June 7. The operation led to the seizure of nearly 10 kilograms of heroin, more than 1.05 million stimulant tablets, two pistols and 200 rounds of ammunition.

The seized drugs were estimated to have a local market value of 3.021 billion kyats. Further investigations revealed that the drugs and weapons were being transported from Mandalay to Tedim. Two suspected masterminds from Tedim remain at large.

Police have opened cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and are continuing investigations to identify other individuals involved. Authorities are also taking action under anti-money laundering laws to confiscate assets and profits linked to the drug trafficking operation.
