Drug Seizure: Over 11 billion kyats worth of drug seized

Authorities seized narcotics worth an estimated 11.65 billion kyats in separate operations in Aunglan and Mandalay on June 17.

In Aunglan, security forces raided a hotel and a vehicle after receiving a tip-off, seizing 5 million methamphetamine tablets (Yaba) worth about 10 billion kyats. Three suspects were arrested. In Mandalay, authorities searched a hotel and found 1.1 million methamphetamine tablets worth about 1.65 billion kyats. Four suspects were arrested, and they are being prosecuted under the law.

Investigations are continuing to identify and arrest others involved in the drug trafficking network. Authorities also urged the public to confidentially report information related to drug trafficking activities.
