




The opening ceremony for Women’s Development and Capacity Building Program was held at the Nursing Institute in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
Deputy Minister for Women's Affairs Daw San San Nwe attended the event and delivered the opening speech. She said the program is part of activities ahead of Myanmar Women’s Day 2026, stressing that women make up about 53% of Myanmar’s population, so their development and protection are very important.
She added that the Ministry of Women Affairs was newly formed in April 2026 to support women’s development and protection work. She also highlighted the government’s National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (2023–2032), which is being implemented through committees led by senior officials.
The Deputy Minister emphasized key areas such as women’s health, protection from violence, emergency response, and psychosocial support. She also encouraged strengthening the role and leadership of nurses, noting that nursing is a profession that supports both physical and mental well-being. A total of 110 trainees attended the event.
