Monsoon Season Tree Planting: Tree planting event and visiting locomotive shed

The Ministry of Digital Development and Communications held its 2026 monsoon season tree-planting event Thursday on a vacant plot of land in the Cyber City area of Yadanapon New City, Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region.

First, Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo, led the planting of shade trees and ornamental trees alongside attendees, and went around to observe and encourage those participating in the tree-planting activities. A total of 2,000 shade and windbreak trees were planted during the event.

Simultaneously, an additional 1,770 trees were planted in states and regions under the Ministry, bringing the total number of trees planted to 3,770. Afterward, the Union Minister and officials proceeded to the diesel locomotive repair shed near Pyin Oo Lwin Station.

They inspected the diesel-electric locomotives currently operating on the Pyin Oo Lwin–Gokteik section, RBE carriages, chartered steam locomotives, and RGC carriages. The Union Minister also provided guidance on ensuring the convenience of travelers visiting the historic Gokteik Bridge and maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the train carriages at all times.
