At the invitation of Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, the high-level Myanmar delegation led by President Min Aung Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, who is currently paying State Visit in Beijing, visited China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) in the morning of June 17th.
Upon arrival at CRCC, the President and delegation were warmly welcomed by CRCC Chairman Mr. Dai Hegen and officials from the corporation.
The President and delegation then toured the CRCC exhibition hall, where the chairman and responsible officials explained the history and development of the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC). They noted that the organization originated in 1948 from the railway corps of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Officials presented historical records, photographs, and documents showing the development of the railway corps through different eras, including meetings with Chinese national leaders who emphasized the importance of railway construction forces. They also showcased records of the construction of high railway bridges and tunnel railways built under difficult conditions, as well as the construction of Beijing’s first subway railway system. These presentations were displayed through documents, models, and special exhibits in each gallery section. The President asked questions and held discussions on matters he wished to know more about.
Later, during a presentation session at the meeting hall, the CRCC Chairman expressed his honor and pleasure at the visit by the Myanmar delegation led by President Min Aung Hlaing to CRCC. Representing more than 300,000 employees, he warmly welcomed the delegation. He stated that Myanmar and China are neighboring countries and close friends with a long history of friendship and cooperation. He added that Chinese President Xi Jinping considers Myanmar a trustworthy neighboring friend and has instructed efforts to implement agreements between the two countries. He also said that CRCC wishes to contribute its expertise and technology to Myanmar in the construction, renovation, and upgrading of railways, roads, subway systems, airports, and smart cities. The chairman then explained CRCC’s history, current developments, and capabilities. After the presentations, the President discussed areas of cooperation that could be implemented between Myanmar and CRCC and asked further questions regarding the projects.
Afterward, the President and the CRCC Chairman exchanged commemorative gifts. The President then departed from CRCC, where the chairman and officials formally bid farewell to the delegation.
Following this, the high-level Myanmar delegation led by the President departed from Beijing South Railway Station to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station aboard High-Speed Railway G23. The delegation was seen off by Chinese government officials led by Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, along with officials from the Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaché Office in Beijing. During the farewell ceremony, an honor guard from China stood on both sides of the red carpet in salute to the President.
While traveling from Beijing to Shanghai by high-speed train, the President observed China’s advanced railway transportation system, the systematic management of railway zones, urban development, organized residential and agricultural areas, infrastructure construction projects, and the orderly planting of trees along the railway routes. He also gave guidance and instructions to Union Ministers and officials accompanying him during the journey.
Furthermore, while aboard High-Speed Railway G23, the President inquired about and observed the provision of onboard catering services and the arrangements made to ensure passengers can travel comfortably. He discussed these matters in order to learn from the experience for potential use in the development and implementation of Myanmar’s railway transportation sector.
Afterwards, the high-level Myanmar delegation led by the President arrived at Hongqiao Railway Station in Shanghai, where they were welcomed by the Deputy Mayor and other officials.
