Transport Sector : Bridge construction and rail facility

Union Minister for Transport, Digital Development and Communications U Mya Tun Oo inspected the reconstruction of the 364.17 feet long Samone Creek Bridge No. (691) between Samone and Thaetaw stations on the Mandalay–Nay Pyi Taw railway section on Saturday.

At the briefing hall, he instructed officials to complete the approach roads alongside the bridge, strengthen retaining walls, improve the waterway, follow required standards and ensure work site safety. The bridge, which was damaged by flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi in September 2024, is undergoing reconstruction with efforts to complete the work on time.

65 percent of the bridge and approach tracks is expected to be completed by the end of March 2027, enabling the resumption of express and passenger train services. On Sunday, the Union Minister visited Myanma Railways Carriage and Wagon Workshop (Myitnge).

He reviewed staffing and work progress at the meeting hall. During the meeting with staff, he urged all to perform their duties responsibly as civil servants while providing basic foodstuff. The Union Minister later toured the factory and instructed officials to improve workplace safety, maintain staff housing and promptly repair the housing in need of maintenance.
